Weather and time

The camera watches a forest clearing on a private property in Southern Oregon where wild animals come to eat and drink. Two weathered wooden playhouses, a big trunk with a home sign and a blue paddling pool used as a water trough stand among conifers and oaks.

Southern Oregon takes in the Rogue and Umpqua river valleys, the Klamath Mountains and the southern Cascades. Conifers and oaks cover much of its foothills. The owners of this plot put out fresh food and water every day, so local animals keep coming back.

The view is fixed on the feeding spot, so visitors appear close and large. Deer, including bucks, does and fawns, come for the scattered fruit and nuts, along with raccoons, skunks, squirrels, wild turkeys and ravens. A black bear has also drunk from the trough. At least twice a day the owners step in to clear up and lay out new food.
