Dubuque Courthouse Falcon Nest, Window View Live Cam

This camera looks through a courthouse window at a peregrine falcon nest box on an upper ledge in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. The gravel-filled wooden box sits in the corner where a red brick wall meets a curved stone arch.

Local reports say a pair of peregrines has laid eggs on the fifth-floor ledge of the courthouse every spring since 2017. The chicks are banded before they leave the nest. Peregrines once nested mainly on cliffs, and tall buildings with sheltered ledges now serve them in many Midwestern cities.

The camera sits above and to one side of the box, so the box, the stained ledge and the ground below appear in one frame. The dark window frame cuts across the right edge, and a parking lot with marked police cars and a small lawn lies below on the left. The view stays the same through the day.
