Dubuque Courthouse Ledge, Downtown View Live Cam

This wide-angle camera on a ledge of the courthouse looks out over a broad street, parking lots and brick blocks in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. The fisheye lens curves the horizon, so a wide sky and a wooded hillside fill the top of the frame.

The courthouse stands in the heart of downtown Dubuque, a Mississippi River city whose older streets lie on flat ground below steep wooded bluffs. Peregrine falcons nest on an upper ledge of the building, and other cameras there watch their box. This one points away from the nest and shows the city instead.

In the foreground a wide street curves along the bottom of the picture, with a small flat-roofed building and parked cars beside it. Farther back, low commercial buildings, a slender tower and a large mid-rise block rise against the sky. Courthouse stonework edges the left side.
