Downtown Bangor Live Cam

Bangor is a town of fewer than two thousand people in the fruit-growing country of south-western Michigan. The webcam looks along the main street to a level crossing at the end of it.

This corner of the state grows most of the blueberries in the country outside the Pacific north-west, on sandy acid soil that Lake Michigan keeps from freezing too early. The packing houses take the crop from July.

The railway through the crossing carries freight between Chicago and the Michigan interior. The lake is twenty kilometres west, close enough that the town gets lake-effect snow all winter and a longer growing season than its latitude would suggest.
