Göksu Travertenleri, Turkey Live Cam

The Göksu travertine terraces stand in front of this webcam at Pınarlar, in the Dereli district of Giresun province, Turkey. White mineral crusts cover the slope in steps, with a wooden stairway running up the side and a pale blue pool at the foot.

The terraces form where spring water rich in calcium carbonate runs down the hillside and leaves deposits behind, the same process as at Pamukkale but on a much smaller and far less visited site. The pools at the bottom are shallow and can be walked in.

Water flow and light change the colour of the crust from white to ochre through the day. In winter the hillside above the terraces holds snow.
