Erbaa Meydanı, Tokat Live Cam

Erbaa's main square is a park with a fountain set into the paving, and the camera looks north across it from the roof of the town hall. The town lies in the Kelkit valley in Tokat province, in northern Turkey.

There is a reason the streets are straight and the buildings all of a similar age. The North Anatolian Fault runs along this valley, and the earthquake of December 1942 destroyed the old settlement so thoroughly that the town was rebuilt on the terrace above it.

The valley floor is good ground, worked for sugar beet, tobacco and vegetables, and the square fills up in the evening once the heat comes off. Niksar is thirty kilometres east, Tokat about seventy to the south.
