Weather and time
This live scavenging bird feeder webcam, set in the tranquil countryside of Valencia del Mombuey, Spain, in the heart of Extremadura, offers a wonderful glimpse into the daily life of local birds of prey. Nestled near the Portuguese border in the province of Badajoz, the area is a natural haven where Leonardo Vulture (Buitre Leonardo), Red Kite (Milano real), and Corvids (Corvidos) gather around the feeding station, gliding over the open landscapes before swooping in to feed. The camera streams the scene in real time, allowing viewers to enjoy the beauty and behaviour of these remarkable birds from anywhere in the world. The camera forms part of a wider initiative created through the LIFE Eurokite Project, an international effort focused on protecting the red kite and other wildlife. Using advanced GPS monitoring, the project works to identify and reduce threats to these birds across Europe. Running from 2020 to 2027, it brings together 18 partners from several EU countries. The project is coordinated by MEGEG, an Austrian society dedicated to the conservation of birds of prey, with active participation from AMUS – Action for the Wild World (AMUS – Acción por el Mundo Salvaje), a Spanish organisation committed to wildlife protection. Among its roles, AMUS monitors red kite mortality in Extremadura, Andalusia, and mainland Portugal, and helps boost populations in the southwest of Spain. To see exactly where Valencia del Mombuey is located, explore our interactive map further down the page.
