San Sebastián de la Gomera Live Cam

San Sebastián de la Gomera spreads between a dark sand beach and the dry ridges that close the valley behind the town. Apartment blocks with terracotta roofs fill the foreground of the webcam picture.

This is the capital of La Gomera and its main port. Columbus took on water and supplies here in 1492 before the Atlantic crossing, and the well he drew from still stands in the customs house near the harbour.

Ferries from Los Cristianos on Tenerife arrive several times a day at the quay on the left. Inland, the Garajonay National Park holds a laurel forest that survives from the Tertiary period and is listed by UNESCO.
