Torre Sant Vicent beach, Benicassim Live Cam

Torre Sant Vicent beach runs below a line of flats at Benicàssim, on the Costa del Azahar in the province of Castellón. The webcam looks along the sand towards the sixteenth-century watchtower at the far end.

The seafront here was built twice over. From the 1880s Valencian families put up a row of summer villas along the shore, and most of them still stand between the newer blocks; the tower they were built around had been watching for Barbary raiders three centuries earlier.

Benicàssim is better known now for a music festival held in July that brings tens of thousands of people to a town of eighteen thousand. A disused railway line behind it has been turned into a walking and cycling route along the cliffs towards Oropesa.
