Homigot Sunrise Square, Korea Live Cam

Homigot Sunrise Square at Pohang lies below this webcam, on the eastern coast of South Korea near Yeongildae. A white lighthouse stands on the left, and the bronze hand sculpture rises out of the water off the point.

The site is the easternmost point of the Korean mainland and gets the first sunrise in the country, which is why crowds gather here on 1 January. The sculpture is a pair of hands — one in the sea, one on land — and a lighthouse museum stands beside the square.

The coast here is rocky and open, and the square is exposed to wind off the sea. Sunrise is the fixed event: the rest of the day the frame shows walkers and parked cars.
