Market Square, Margonin Live Cam

This camera looks over the Rynek, the market square of Margonin, a small town in Chodzież County in the Greater Poland region. Weeping willows frame a paved square with a war memorial at its centre and a row of gabled townhouses on the far side.

Margonin has fewer than three thousand residents and lies on the northern shore of Margonin Lake. It held town rights by 1402, and its old centre grew up around this square and the parish Church of Saint Adalbert. Most houses on the square date from the late 19th century.

The memorial, unveiled in 2009 and dedicated to those who fell for freedom, carries bronze figures of Polish soldiers. Flower baskets hang from the lamp posts, a pharmacy occupies the corner house on the right and a road sign beside it points to Chodzież. Beyond the rooftops, the lake shows between the trees below a forested ridge.
