Rotterdam Blaak Street, Netherlands Live Cam

The white arch of Rotterdam Blaak station stands in the middle of this frame, with the Markthal on one side and the Cube Houses on the other. Trams and buses stop on the square below.

The Markthal opened in 2014 as a horseshoe of flats built over a covered market, its inner vault painted end to end. The cubes tilted on their corners date from 1984 and are the work of Piet Blom, as is the round tower behind them.

This whole quarter was flattened by bombing on 14 May 1940, which is why the centre of Rotterdam is post-war throughout. The station under the arch handles metro, mainline and tram traffic in one interchange, and the webcam has all three in view.
