Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa, Savanne Live Cam

St Félix is a public beach on the south coast of Mauritius, backed by filao trees and open to the lagoon and the reef. The webcam is set above it at the Shanti Maurice resort, in the district of Savanne.

The south is the wet and windy side of the island. Swell out of the Southern Ocean breaks on the reef offshore all year and the trade wind blows straight onto this shore, so the water inside the lagoon works harder than it does on the west coast.

Sugar cane still comes down to within sight of the sand here, and the coast road runs east past Rochester Falls to the fishing town of Souillac. Cyclones cross this part of the Indian Ocean between November and April.
