Sendai Station Live Cam

Sendai station sits at the middle of the largest city in northern Honshu, with the shopping streets running west from it. The webcam looks down on the forecourt and the traffic at night.

The city was laid out in 1601 by Date Masamune, a warlord who built a castle on the ridge above and set the grid below it. Zelkova trees along the main avenues have given it the name city of trees since they were replanted after the war.

The Tanabata festival in early August is the largest of its kind in Japan and hangs the arcades near the station with paper streamers metres long. Trains from Tokyo reach here in about an hour and a half.
