Weather and time
The Chuo Line runs on an embankment through Hino in front of this webcam, in the western suburbs of Tokyo. An orange-banded rapid train passes above the lens, under a dense grid of overhead wires and masts.
The Chuo is the main east-west artery of the metropolitan area, running from Tokyo Station out towards the mountains, and its orange livery is one of the recognisable liveries of the network. Hino is a city of about 185,000 people between Tokyo and Hachioji.
Trains pass every few minutes and far more often at peak. The line is famously prone to delays because it is worked so hard, which is visible here as bunching.
