Bandai Bridge Niigata, Japan Live Cam

Seen from the 20th floor of Niigata's Media Ship Business Centre, this live webcam looks over the Bandai Bridge across the Shinano River, along with the cityscape of Niigata City and the sea in the background.

Bandai Bridge was first opened in 1886 and reconstructed in 1926, built to resemble the original bridge using reinforced concrete, granite siding, and six arches. It was designated a national Important Cultural Property and is an example of large-scale concrete arch bridges from the Shōwa era (1926 to 1989).

The camera is in Chuo Ward, which covers most of Niigata city centre and borders the Sea of Japan to the west, as shown on the map below. Along the shore are parks, beaches, and the Niigata City Aquarium Marinepia Nihonkai, known for its dolphin show. Niigata is the capital of Niigata Prefecture, known for its mountains and rice fields and for snow sports in winter.
