Savona Rail, Liguria Live Cam

The railway to Ventimiglia runs below this camera at Savona, on the Ligurian coast of north-western Italy. A motorway viaduct crosses the valley above the line.

The coastal railway was rebuilt inland in stages through the late twentieth century, doubling the track and putting most of it in tunnel. The old single-track alignment along the shore was lifted and turned into a cycle path.

The motorway above is the Autostrada dei Fiori, which runs to the French border almost entirely on viaducts and through tunnels because there is no flat ground to put it on. Savona is a working port with a coal terminal and a cruise berth.
