Mount Merapi volcano, Indonesia Live Cam

Mount Merapi stands about ten kilometres from this view, taken from the village of Jamburejo in Srumbung district, Central Java. At night incandescent rockfall shows as orange streaks down the flank, and the overlay carries a live seismic trace.

Merapi is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has been in near-continuous eruption for years, building and collapsing a lava dome at the summit. The stream also carries audio from the monitoring service radio link, where a wavering tone marks a tremor.

Cloud usually covers the peak from mid-morning, so the clearest views are before dawn. In the wet season the mountain can stay hidden for days at a time.
