Oak Bay Marina, Victoria Live Cam

Several hundred boats lie at Oak Bay Marina, on the sheltered side of Victoria at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. The camera looks along the docks towards Mary Tod Island and the water beyond it.

The marina opened in 1962 and for thirty years shared the site with Sealand of the Pacific, an oceanarium with floating pens off the breakwater. It closed in 1992 and the pens were taken out; the docks, the fuel float and the restaurant are what remain.

Oak Bay is a municipality in its own right, with its own council and a reputation in Victoria for hedges and Englishness. The tide runs hard through Baynes Channel just off the point, which is part of why the basin behind the island stays as flat as it looks.
