Wild Bald Eagle Nest, Florida Live Cam

A bald eagle sits on the nest through most of the webcam picture, in a pine in southern Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Ron Magill Conservation Endowment and the Zoo Miami Foundation run the feed.

Florida nests earlier than the north. Eggs are laid from October and the young fly by April or May, ahead of the summer heat, and the same pair usually returns to the same nest and adds to it until the branch or the tree gives way.

The state holds one of the largest breeding populations outside Alaska, more than 1,500 pairs. Bald eagles came off the United States endangered list in 2007 and are still covered by a federal act of their own.
