South Beach runs the length of this webcam view at Miami Beach, on the Atlantic coast of Florida in the United States. Rows of loungers and umbrellas cover the sand, and the boardwalk runs behind the dune line to the north.

Miami Beach is a barrier island separated from the mainland by Biscayne Bay, and the art deco district of the 1930s stands one block behind this sand. The water shelves gently and there is no reef, so the surf stays small.

Spring break and the winter season fill the beach; hurricane season from June to November empties it in a day when a storm tracks near. The sand is graded flat each morning before the loungers go out.
