Waycross Depot, Georgia Live Cam

From the depot in Waycross, Georgia, the camera watches a rail crossing, a signal gantry and a white Waycross welcome sign. Tracks curve away between signal masts toward a yard filled with freight cars.

Waycross is the Ware County seat in southeast Georgia and a long-time railroad town. The depot area sits at the diamond where CSX's Jesup, Fitzgerald and Thomasville Subdivisions meet, all of them former Atlantic Coast Line routes. Rice Yard, a major CSX classification and locomotive facility, lies about a mile and a half to the southwest.

The usual position faces the crossing, with a highway bridge across the top of the frame, signal masts at the center and a bush in front of the sign. The camera also pans in on freight trains as they pass, and at times it turns to look along the line past a red caboose and palm fronds.
