Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa Live Cam

Anaehoomalu Bay sits on the Kohala coast of Hawaii island, with a beach and two ancient fishponds behind it. The camera looks over the ponds and the palms from a resort.

The ponds are engineering. Hawaiians built walled brackish ponds with sluice grates that let small fish in and would not let them out once grown, a form of aquaculture with no real equivalent elsewhere in the Pacific.

The trail along this shore is the Ala Kahakai, the old coastal route round the island, and the ground either side of it is bare lava from flows off Mauna Loa. Fields of petroglyphs are cut into the same rock a short walk inland.
