Beachcomber, St. Augustine Live Cam

Sunrise over the Atlantic lights the dunes at St. Augustine Beach, on Anastasia Island in northeast Florida. Sea oats fill the foreground, and surfers and walkers cross the sand as silhouettes.

The camera is mounted at the Beachcomber restaurant, a beachfront bar standing directly on the dune line. Because the shore faces east, the sun comes up out of the water ahead of the lens every morning.

Anastasia Island lies between the Matanzas River and the ocean, with St. Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the United States, on the mainland side. The county fishing pier stands a short way north along the same beach.
