Siesta Key, Florida Live Cam

A pelican holds the end piling of a private dock on Little Sarasota Bay, with the mainland shore closing the far side of the water. A weather panel gives air and water temperature, wind and tide.

Siesta Key is a barrier island about eight miles long off Sarasota, Florida, and this is the sheltered side of it. The bay is shallow and rarely rough, unlike the Gulf beaches on the opposite shore of the same island.

Those beaches are known for sand that is almost pure quartz, ground fine and pale enough to stay cool underfoot. This camera faces east across the bay, so it catches sunrise over the water and the colour of the sky again after sunset.
