Weather and time
From the roof of the San Jose City Hall tower, this camera looks steeply down the pale facade to the sidewalks and streets far below. On the right, the flat roof of an older neighbouring building is edged with red clay tiles, with trees and parked cars beyond it.
The 18-storey tower rises above East Santa Clara Street, next to the civic plaza and its domed rotunda. Peregrine falcons have raised chicks on its upper ledges for many years. In late spring the young make their first flights from the tower, and some land on lower roofs or on the street before they can fly back up.
Unlike the other two cameras, which stay close to the nest, this one looks over the edge of the building. A band of metal louvres runs down the tower wall on the left, and the tiled roofline below gives a sense of the height.
