Weather and time
This camera looks east from a ledge high on the Nebraska State Capitol tower in Lincoln, with a peregrine falcon nest box at one side. Below it spread the rooftops and tree-lined streets east of the Capitol grounds.
The Capitol, completed in 1932, has a tower about 400 feet tall and is one of the highest points in the city. A wooden nest box sits on its 18th floor, and a pair of peregrine falcons nested there between 2005 and 2016. Three chicks hatched in the box in May 2024.
Unlike the camera mounted above the box, this one shows the roofed box from the side, perched on a stone block against open sky. In the middle distance the red running track of Lincoln High School stands out among the trees, with a residential tower and brick apartment blocks in the foreground.
