New River, Ft. Lauderdale Live Cam

The railway bascule bridge over the New River stands raised, and a motor cruiser passes beneath it in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Towers of the city centre close the background.

The bridge belongs to the Florida East Coast Railway and is left up by default, coming down only for a train: freight, or a Brightline passenger service running the coast. Boat traffic therefore passes without waiting for most of the day.

Behind it lie the Riverwalk promenade and the towers along the water. The New River leads from the Intracoastal into a network of canals that gives the city its nickname, and the webcam looks upstream along the main channel.
