Brainerd Boiler Yard, Minnesota Live Cam

Long brick shops fill the picture at the Northern Pacific yard in Brainerd, where the railway once repaired its rolling stock. The webcam stands on the old boiler house at the centre of the site.

Brainerd exists because of that railway. The Northern Pacific laid the town out in 1871 where its line crossed the Mississippi and named it after the wife of its president, and the shops employed a large share of the population for the next century.

The circle of grass at the near edge of the yard is a turntable pad with the track lifted. The buildings now hold offices, an arcade of shops and event space, and the feed comes from Northern Transcon Railcams.
