An otter pond at a small animal park at Boynton Beach, in the south-east of Florida, sits in front of this camera. The animals swim, feed and sleep in view.

Otters of this kind hunt with their hands rather than their mouths. The forepaws have almost no webbing and very short claws, and they feel under stones for crabs and shellfish, which is why they spend so much of the day apparently rummaging.

The feed goes dark on Thursday daytimes while the pond is drained and cleaned, and comes back afterwards. The park keeps zebras, lemurs, porcupines and kangaroos alongside them.
