Salinas de Torrevieja, Alicante Live Cam

This live webcam shows Salinas de Torrevieja, a natural park in Alicante, Spain, known for its pink saltwater lagoons, or salt flats. The protected area is home to rare plants and wildlife, and flamingos visit during their migration periods.

The site has a history that goes back to Roman times, but it became important in the early 19th century as a centre of Spain's salt industry. This turned the small fishing village of Torrevieja into one of Europe's major salt producers, extracting over 600,000 tonnes a year. A large part of this salt is used for winter road salting in northern Europe. The stream runs through the day, as well as before sunrise and after sunset.
