Pyoseon Beach, Jeju Island Live Cam

Pyoseon Beach opens out below this view on the southeastern coast of Jeju Island, off the south of the Korean mainland. Black volcanic rock frames the bay, and at low tide the sand flat opens out for hundreds of metres.

Pyoseon is unusual among Korean beaches for its scale at low water — roughly 160,000 square metres of firm sand — while at high tide the same ground becomes a shallow pool about a metre deep. The Jeju Folk Village, a reconstruction of island houses as they stood in the 1890s, is a short walk inland.

The terrace of a café occupies the foreground, and the operator sells advertising space in the overlay. The sun rises out of the sea directly in front of the camera.
