Palace Square is the main square of Saint Petersburg city, an architectural ensemble that emerged in the second half of the XVIII first half of the XIX century. The square is formed by monuments of history and culture of federal significance: the Winter Palace, the building of the headquarters of the Guards Corps, the General Staff Building with the Triumphal Arch, the Alexander Column. Its size is about 5 hectares (about twice the size of Red Square in Moscow). As part of the historical development of the center of Saint Petersburg, the square is included in the World Heritage List.
