Weather and time
A Ferris wheel and lit walkways stand at the bottom of the Rudolf chamber in the Salina Turda salt mine in Romania. The webcam hangs high in the chamber and looks straight down, with the ribbed salt walls curving away on all sides.
Salt was cut here from the Middle Ages until 1932, and the workings were later used as a bomb shelter and a cheese store. The site reopened as a visitor attraction in 2010, with the underground halls fitted out for it.
The chamber holds a 20-metre wheel, a bowling alley, mini-golf and an amphitheatre, and a lower level has a lake with rowing boats. The temperature underground stays close to 12 degrees all year, and the salt air is used for respiratory treatment.
