Weather and time
Takamatsu Port faces the Seto Inland Sea from the north edge of Takamatsu, the largest city on Shikoku, in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. The camera is high on the Symbol Tower and looks down on the piers, the ferry berths and the breakwater.
Ferries leave here for Naoshima, Shodoshima and the other islands of the Inland Sea, and every three years the Setouchi Triennale fills the terminal with people heading to the art sites. Before the Great Seto Bridge opened in 1988, this crossing was the only link between Shikoku and Honshu.
At the end of the breakwater stands the Seto Shrine lighthouse, built of red glass blocks that light from within after dark. The district around the port, Sunport, was reclaimed and rebuilt in the 1990s with the tower, a hotel and gardens along the water.
