The Shinjuku City Office stands in Kabukicho a short distance from Yasukuni-dori, and the crossing named after it is one of the main junctions on the south side of the district. Pedestrian crossings run in several directions, red-painted lanes mark the turns, and shops with large signs line the pavements.
