Carmel Beach, Hof HaCarmel Live Cam

Carmel Beach runs along the foot of the ridge at Haifa, on the Mediterranean coast in the north of Israel. The camera turns along the promenade and the sand.

The ridge behind is Mount Carmel, and the caves cut into its western side twenty kilometres south have produced some of the most important human remains in the region: Neanderthal and modern human burials in the same set of shelters, over half a million years of occupation.

The terraces climbing the slope in the city itself are the Bahá'í gardens, the centre of that religion and the site of its founder's shrine. Haifa is the country's main port and one of its few long-mixed cities.
