Elite City Resort, Kalamata Live Cam

A hotel on the shore at Kalamata looks over the Messenian Gulf, in the south of the Peloponnese in Greece. The webcam covers the pool, the lawn and the coast road.

The city gave its name to the olive: the long dark Kalamata variety is grown across this plain and is one of the few Greek foods with a protected designation. The other local crop is figs.

Most of the town is new because it had to be. An earthquake in September 1986 destroyed or damaged a large share of the buildings and emptied the place for months; the rebuilding is what the modern grid behind the seafront comes from.
