Vorupør Pier & Bay, Denmark Live Cam

Fishing boats are pulled up onto the sand at Vorupør, on the North Sea coast of Thy in north-west Denmark. The webcam belongs to a surf shop and looks along the beach towards the mole.

There is no harbour here. Boats have always been winched straight onto the beach, and the concrete arm in the picture is a breakwater rather than a quay, which is why the fleet sits on dry sand between trips.

The same swell that makes that awkward turned the coast into a surfing centre; the stretch from here to Klitmøller goes by the name Cold Hawaii and holds contests in water that rarely gets past fifteen degrees. Thy National Park, the first in Denmark, runs along the dunes behind.
