Weather and time
The harbour at Bol is a shallow rectangle of water on the south coast of Brač, sheltered by a stone mole in the Croatian county of Split-Dalmatia. Small fishing boats lie against the quay in the camera picture.
West of the town the shingle spit of Zlatni Rat runs out into the channel. Its tip swings from one side to the other as the current and wind change, so the shape on a postcard rarely matches the shape on the day.
The ridge behind the town is Vidova Gora, which at 778 metres is the highest point on any Adriatic island. Bol itself has about fifteen hundred residents, and the waterfront turns over completely between the summer season and the winter.
