Rockport Beach, Texas Live Cam

Palm-thatch umbrellas stand along the sand at Rockport Beach, on Aransas Bay on the Texas Gulf coast. The bay water is shallow and calm, and industrial cranes on the far shore break the horizon.

Rockport Beach was the first in Texas to receive Blue Wave certification for its water quality and facilities. It is a bay beach rather than a Gulf beach, protected by the barrier islands of San José and Mustang further out.

The park around it has picnic shelters, a swimming basin and a bird sanctuary at the north end. The live stream faces the water across the sand, so the umbrellas mark the width of the beach. Aransas Bay lies on the central flyway, and whooping cranes winter in the refuge a short distance up the coast.
