A red-bellied woodpecker works the peanut feeder in this back garden in Orlando, Florida, where half a dozen feeders hang within one frame. A chain-link fence runs behind them.

Cardinals, blue jays, tufted titmice, house sparrows, wrens and grackles share the same trays, and the turnover is constant through the day. A weather panel in the corner gives the temperature and the sunrise and sunset times.

Central Florida takes in birds wintering from further north, so the mix at a feeder like this changes with the season. The camera sits close enough that a single bird fills a good part of the picture.
