Kaanapali Beach, Maui Live Cam

Kaanapali Beach lies below this webcam on the western coast of the island of Maui, in Hawaii, United States. A hotel pool and palms stand in the foreground, catamarans lie off the sand, and the island of Lanai shows across the channel.

Kaanapali is a stretch of about five kilometres of beach that was developed as the island's first planned resort area in the 1960s. Black Rock at its northern end is a lava headland used for snorkelling and for a nightly cliff-diving ceremony.

The channel between Maui, Lanai and Molokai is sheltered, so the water here stays calm for most of the year. Humpback whales move through it between December and April and are regularly visible from the beach.
