Fort Myers Beach Live Cam

Empty sand and dune grass run down to the Gulf of Mexico at Fort Myers Beach, on Estero Island in Florida. The water shades from pale green to blue offshore, and small boats anchor close in.

Estero Island is a barrier island off the southwest coast, about seven miles long, with the beach along its whole Gulf side. Hurricane Ian crossed here in September 2022 and destroyed much of the built strip behind this shoreline.

Rebuilding has continued since, and the dunes in the webcam frame are part of the replanting that followed. Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve lies on the landward side of the island, sheltered from the open Gulf.
