Caliente Depot Tracks, Nevada Live Cam

Mounted at the Caliente depot in Nevada, this movable camera looks down the Union Pacific tracks past the brick platform toward a brown ridge. Its usual frame shows several tracks, an iron platform fence and a line of trees at the edge of town.

Caliente grew up as a Union Pacific division point on the Los Angeles to Salt Lake City line and a base for helper locomotives. The Mission Revival depot beside the tracks dates from 1923 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. South of town the line follows Meadow Valley Wash through Rainbow Canyon.

The camera mostly rests on the wide view along the yard, but it also turns and zooms. In one frame it follows boxcars and tank cars toward signal masts, a street lamp and a parked school bus, with the mountain slope filling the background.
