Weather and time
This camera looks out over the bay at St Mawes in Cornwall, across open water to a wooded headland on the far shore. A white waterfront kiosk and a rocky shoreline fill the foreground.
St Mawes is a village on the Roseland peninsula in south Cornwall, built around its quay and sheltered harbour. The camera sits high above the waterfront close to The Quay, so the view takes in the bay rather than the harbour basin. On the left of the frame you can see the quay car park and the harbour master's hut, and small boats lie at moorings further out.
The water changes constantly: on calm days the surface glitters in the sun, while in strong wind waves break over the rocks on the right and the far shore fades into grey haze. The line of the water along those rocks moves with the tide.
