Weather and time
This fixed camera looks south-east across Loch Ness from the hillside above the A82 near Drumnadrochit in the Scottish Highlands. A tall conifer, a row of trees and a sloping field frame the foreground, with the wide water of the loch stretching to the far shore.
Loch Ness is about 36 km long and up to roughly 230 m deep, and it holds more water than any other lake in the British Isles. It forms part of the Caledonian Canal, which links Inverness with Corpach near Fort William. Drumnadrochit lies about 2.5 km to the west on the same shore. The loch is also known for the Loch Ness Monster legend, which gained worldwide attention in 1933.
The view stays on one spot, so the changes come from weather and light. The water looks dark blue in bright sun, silvery grey under cloud and rippled when the wind picks up. Sheep sometimes graze in the field below.
