Marmaris is one of the main yachting harbours of the eastern Mediterranean, and the marina fills through the season with charter boats, gulets and long-distance cruisers — many of them wintering here before heading back out into the Aegean. The promenade on the left of the frame runs past cafés and ice-cream stands towards the castle and the old town.

The hill behind the basin carries the antenna masts that mark the ridge above Marmaris. Boats come and go all day, with departures clustered in the morning.
