Maeklong Railway Market Live Cam

The railway runs straight through the middle of Maeklong market, with stalls set out on both sides of the rails and over them. The camera covers the track where the awnings come down.

Traders call it Talat Rom Hup, the pull-down umbrella market. Eight times a day a horn sounds, the canopies fold back, the trays slide clear of the rails and the train edges through at walking pace before everything goes out again.

The line is a stub: 33 kilometres from Ban Laem to Mae Klong, with no rail connection to the rest of the Thai network, so passengers cross the river by ferry to pick up the other half of the route. Samut Songkhram, the province around it, is the smallest in Thailand.
