Taichung Wanhe Temple Live Cam

Wanhe temple stands in the Nantun district of Taichung, in central Taiwan, and the webcam looks inside the hall. Mazu is the deity it is built around.

Nantun is the oldest part of the city and was named for its ploughs: the district was a row of smithies and workshops making them for the farms of the plain, and the name that stuck meant something like plough-shop village.

The temple holds a rite in the third lunar month in which the goddess is carried out to visit the townships around, a custom recorded here for over two centuries. The building itself mixes the two southern Fujianese styles brought over by different waves of settlers.
